The apartment is located next to La Duquesa Golf Course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this 18-hole, 72par course is a must for all serious golfers.
The course winds round El Hacho beacon hill with magnificent views over the Mediterranean, Gibralta and to Africa. It has five par 3's, eight par 4's, and five par 5's, with two small man-made lakes. It offers an interesting and varied game due to its long fairways and has two clearly different parts.
The first 9 holes are of a certain "English style" with narrow fairways and high greens. Particularly beautiful is the 4th hole for its magnificent views, but it can also easily give you trouble with your score card. The 8th par 3 is only 125m long but has a drop of 30m! The second 9 are easier with wide fairways, although the green will supply additional difficulties.
The course is challenging for the low handicap golfer, but remains friendly to mid and higher handicap players. The course has good practice facilities and lessons for all standards of players can be arranged. Green fees are approximately €49 for visitors but you must book in advance.
When the Costa del Sol experienced a renaissance as a winter golf resort in the late eighties, the phrase "Costa del Golf" was coined. Between 1985 and 1991, no fewer than 17 new golf courses appeared, bringing the total along this 50 mile stretch of coast up to thirty. This concentration of quality golf courses, combined with the unique sunny and warm winter climate enjoyed by the region, led to its becoming unrivalled as a winter golf destination for northern Europeans.
When Valderrama was chosen to host the Ryder Cup in 1997, the Costa del Golf received universal recognition as the finest winter golf resort in Europe. Golf course owners are re-investing in their courses to improve their quality still further and there are no longer any weak links, each course offering its own kind of challenge on perfect fairways and greens. The general infrastructure from Malaga to Gibraltar has improved beyond recognition.
With an almost perfect year round climate and some of the finest golf courses in Europe, the Costa del Sol has become Europe's top golf destination.
Some of the best golf courses on the coast are within 20 kilometers of Puerto de La Duquesa. Golf courses in the region include:-
Home to the 1997 Ryder Cup and host in November 1999 to the World Golf Championships, Valderrama is rated as Europe's No 1 course, and is one of its toughest challenges. Immaculate fairways, notoriously difficult par 5's, superfast greens, everything about this course is stunning. Booking is difficult as tee times are very limited. 18 Holes - Par 72 - 6142m
Often voted amongst the top 10 courses in Europe. Sotogrande opened in 1964. Its 18 manicured holes, designed by Robert Trend Jones, have established trees of oak, pine, eucalyptus and palm. Water also plays an important part, affecting play on the majority of the back nine. 18 Holes - Par 72 - 6298m

Designed by Peter Alliss and 15 Km from Gibralta, Alcaidesa is a links course with magnificent views of Gibralta and the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. Gorse, heather, sand dunes, ponds and deep bunkers make Alcaidesa very reminiscent of some Scottish courses - only warmer! 18 Holes - Par 72 - 5671m
But there are many more!
